Next Market:
Saturday 10th December 2022
2pm to 4pm
Hello and welcome!
Thank you for visiting our website.
The Balsham Market was launched in November 2016. Our butchers shop had closed earlier in the year and it was desperately missed by the village with no access to fresh meat and vegetables. As a consequence, it was decided to a try running a community market to fill this void.
The main aim in running the Balsham Market is to connect the local community with food producers and farmers bringing you fresh, good quality, unusual, sustainable, tasty, local, seasonal and homemade produce. This is a great opportunity to see where your food comes from and meet the farmers and producers who produce these foods.
The Balsham Market had a trial period of 12 months to see if it would flourish and bring people together. It worked! So, in 2017 and 2018, the market continued to run every second Saturday of every second month in the Balsham Church Institute.
However, due to unpredicted visitor numbers in 2018, a decision was made to run the markets quarterly.
The Balsham Market has over 12 stalls bringing you locally sourced food and crafts.
Any profit made is given back into the community. Since it’s inception, the Balsham Market has given money towards the Balsham Parochial Charities, Balsham Feast, the Christmas tree lights on the village green, the WW1 Tommy Silhouette, the Balsham Christmas Tree Festival, the Parish Nurse and other small groups.
To find out who will be attending the next market, please take a look at Meet the Farmers and Producers.
There are many reasons to support a farmers market: great food; good value for money; supporting your local economy, farmers and food producers who are small businesses; cuts down on food mileage; you are more likely to eat seasonally; cut down on waste packaging; taking control of what you are buying and eating and more importantly helping to protect the countryside.
Future Dates
We hope you enjoy coming along to the market and enjoy what it has to offer. We look forward to seeing you in 2022. Next market dates are:

Covid-19 Update August 2022
Even though the restrictions on social distancing, etc has been eased, we are still taking precautions to keep all of our customers and stall holders safe.
All stall holders are operating to the required Government COVID-19 standards and meet all Food Standards Agency guidelines.
The Balsham Market will still have these operational procedures in place to maximise safety and reduce exposure risk to all.
- Alcohol hand sanitiser is available along with face masks.
- Please be aware of others in case they still do not feel comfortable in close proximity.
- Stallholders will provide their own PPE and make sure that their stalls are regularly wiped down with antibacterial sprays.
- Communal surfaces will be disinfected.
- Toilets will not be operational.
Help to Promote the Balsham Market
A great deal of the success of the market will depend upon people attending regularly supporting their local food producers. Please let your friends, family and colleagues know about us and follow us on Facebook or Instagram.
Please do come along and support our market along with village life, local small businesses, farmers and producers as well as the beautiful countryside and eco-systems. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to buy fabulous, fresh, locally produced food with low food miles right on your doorstep. Remember the market now runs quarterly.
See you there!
